Nora Brown and Stephanie Coleman (USA)
Banjo player Nora Brown and fiddler Stephanie Coleman made their debut as a duo on the Brooklyn folk scene in 2017 – and have been playing together frequently ever since, coming out with a popular Tiny Desk recording, and in 2023 with a joint EP titled Lady Of The Lake, which they will now present here in Hungary in a free concert at the House of Music Open-Air Stage. Brown plays the traditional American folk music of the Appalachian Mountains, something she resolved to share with the world from the tender age of six. The three solo albums she has released so far have all performed well on the American bluegrass charts, and she released an EP together with Coleman in 2023. For the past two decades, Coleman has also recorded and toured with such renowned artists as the pioneering all-female string band Uncle Earl. Coleman’s collaboration with Brown can also be heard on the latter’s 2019 debut album, Cinnamon Tree. On this evening, these two great talents will interpret genuinely traditional American melodies, Appalachian folk sounds from the genre of Americana that is so rarely heard here in Hungary.
