Concert at lunchtime! Lunch at a concert!
The House of Music's latest series – Lunchtime concerts – means you can enjoy short concerts by young talents at lunchtime. This series features music from students of the Academy of Music, and the 35-minute mini-concerts are complemented by a meal.
In the underground levels of the House of Music Hungary lies the Sound Dome. This is where the program begins, with a short film providing an unusual acoustic and visual experience, after which the visitors are shown an increasing number of similar films.
The crown jewel of the House of Music's Creative Sound Space, which opened in 2022, is an experimental organ that can truly be called a Hungarian treasure. Dániel Váczi developed the concept for the installation largely based on ideas that György Ligeti had already envisioned for the organ of the future in the 1960s.

I have deliberately left the words ‘music history’ out of the title. Although, of course, in my own case it is the basis of everything: my studies and more than 40 years of teaching. For me, however, music history is increasingly becoming a tool to see and, above all, to hear behind all great music and, inspired by the music, to imagine things that may or may not be true, but which enhance the experience of the encounter.
Subjective? Clearly it is: subjective fantasy in moments that only this deep and soaring art can create. I invoke words to accompany music, but the point lies in the gestures and in the experience of listening to music together. My aim is to draw the mysticism of music into an educational ritual. Those who want to learn from it are able to, of course, but the journey itself is more important, the thing that leads to the music and through it to its secrets. Let's slow down time together for a fleeting yet timeless hour.

From spring 2023, we have expanded our offering at the Pop Culture Club Library with a new format: live music. There is hardly a corner of the House of Music where there has not been an instrumental performance, and our library has also passed this test, with memorable acoustic club concerts finding a home among the bookshelves.
As part of the Fringe programme launched to support the mission of the House of Music, Hungary, we invited applicants in three categories – music school students, music hobbyists, and up-and-coming bands and street musicians – to take advantage of the opportunity to perform in various spots around the building. In line with the mission of the institution, the Musicians of the Future programme series provides an opportunity to showcase promising young musicians – primarily music school students – at the House of Music through short concerts in our communal areas.
One of the cornerstones of the House of Music is music education. Its goal is to make the joy of music accessible to as many people as possible.
