Dear guests! Improvements are taking place in the Sound Dome until the end of December. The screenings will be temporarily suspended. Thank you for your understanding!
Unlike most other jazz musicians, America's greatest composer, the Washington-born Edward Kennedy Ellington (1899-1974), came from a well-to-do middle-class background. He never really had to struggle much to make a living, so it is no surprise that he developed an aristocratic bearing, a taste for rank (duke = prince), elegant clothes and posh hotels. In autumn 2023, Gábor Turi's Free Seminar in Jazz will continue with a series of presentations on the great personalities of jazz, the second of which will focus on Duke Ellington.
