Saïd Tichiti

Gnaoua Music Rituals

This program will be held in Hungarian.

Saïd Tichiti was born in Guelmim, southern Morocco. He graduated from ISADAC (University of Dramatic Arts in Rabat) in 1996 and obtained a degree in cultural anthropology from the University of Burgundy in Dijon in 1997. He has been living in Hungary since 1998 and is a renowned and active musician in the fields of world music, folk music and jazz, associated with such groups as Chalaban, Tariqa and Saïd Chalaban. His theater studies and the fact that he was born into a family where traditional music was always present have given him a deep understanding of the diversity of Moroccan musical traditions. In this performance, Saïd invites us on an interactive journey based on rhythms that reflect Morocco's cultural and ethnic diversity – through Berber, Jewish, Arab and African musical traditions.
