Moroccan Percussion Workshop with Saïd Tichiti
Traditional/Global
Moroccan Percussion Workshop with Saïd Tichiti
This program will be held in Hungarian.
A new series entitled World Village+ is launching at the House of Music, which, as a companion to Balázs Weyer's educational music series World Village, focuses on playing music together in a workshop format. In the first program, we can immerse ourselves in Moroccan percussion with Saïd Tichiti, leader of the bands Tariqa and Said Chalaban. Bendir, derbuka, and the diverse instruments of the Arab world will be featured throughout the evening.
Berber, Jewish, Arab, African, and European cultures shape Moroccan identity. There are regions where these cultures preserve their roots separately, and there are regions where they merge. The diversity of Moroccan culture is best captured in music. In this interactive workshop, Saïd Tichiti will introduce various instruments and techniques: bendir, guembri, krakeb, taarija, as well as everyday objects that have been reborn as instruments in Moroccan music (zsefna, színja, scissors).
