In the Hungarian Albummm! series, we listen to albums in the presence of their creator or performer, as they recall their own experiences, at the House of Music Hungary library. We choose the albums from its ever-growing collection, turning the library into a listening party for one great Hungarian record at each event. This time, the debut album by Wellhello, released in 2015 (and issued on vinyl for the first time in autumn 2026), will be spinning on the turntable, and Horváth Gergely’s guests will be the stars of the show, Fluor Tomi and Diaz.
They formed in midsummer, but were far from a one-summer phenomenon—in fact, the group that burst onto the scene in the mid-2010s still seems to be going strong. Its members went from the underground to the very top of the mainstream. The formula for their success only makes sense in Hungarian: Fluor+Diaz=Wellhello. Although the two former rappers’ hip-pop seemed like a somewhat unexpected development, “Rakpart” and “Apuveddmeg” had an immediate impact on Hungary’s hit-making scene. We also owe the first album a line that instantly breaks the ice, and it will do the same for our shared listening session: Presidential Affair.

Those of us who still remember how we used to listen to music back when Little Richard sang from shiny black vinyl discs also know what playing records gave music fans: time dedicated to listening to the music with deep absorption, printed lyrics to browse and memorable album covers. And there was even more, because the medium itself influenced the songwriting: the very designation of sides A and B of singles raised the question of the priority and order of the songs, which brought with it the genesis and application of the musical or ideological concept that served as the organising principle behind the entire album.
