Freddie – The Exhibition

The fist travelling exhibition on Freddie Mercury

Freddie is the first large-scale travelling exhibition dedicated to Freddie Mercury, one of rock history’s most influential figures. Featuring more than 300 original objects — stage costumes, handwritten lyrics, rare memorabilia, and personal items — the exhibition offers an intimate look into his world.

A central highlight is the presence of Peter Freestone, who was not only Mercury’s friend, but also lived under the same roof as his personal assistant for more than a decade, and whose stories accompony visitors throughout the exhibition. Interactive installations and an immersive 3D sound design further bring his creative universe to life.

LISTEN. A Musical Journey Around the World

LISTEN. – World is Music is a cinematic exhibition exploring how people connect through music. Based on a 30-part documentary series by Tomoko Yamaguchi and Garry Bassin, it draws on over a decade of field research across more than 30 countries. Visitors experience traditional music in its original contexts – from remote villages to vibrant urban festivals – accompanied by selected instruments and interactive installations, celebrating the diversity of the world while highlighting that we experience joy, sorrow and festivity through music in similar ways.

They Wrote the Song for Us!

The Story of Pop Music Behind the Iron Curtain

They Wrote the Song for Us! explores the popular music and social context of the decades preceding Hungary’s transition to democracy through eight different themes. The exhibition not only focuses on the prominent performers, bands, iconic hits, and most significant events in pop history of this politically charged era, but also showcases the fan subcultures associated with them, the media essential to the spread of popular music, the institutional system—subject to strict political censorship that fundamentally limited musicians’ freedom of expression—the world of clubs, tours, and instruments, as well as the ever-changing relationship between popular music culture and the visual arts.
