Hungarians in the Eyes of the World - Morning Lecture
This program is held in Hungarian.
Árpád Tóth's interactive educational series Hangadó, which coincides with the House, has entered its 4th season. In 2025/26 we are preparing double performances, so we also welcome those who like to sleep late on Sundays: our performances will be repeated at 14:00 in addition to the usual 11:00 start. This year, we will continue to explore the known and less known chapters of a thousand years of music history in a unique cross-section and with an unusual perspective, while the basic theme of the performances remains the same: it is simply impossible not to go home humming.
More exciting than what we ourselves think of ourselves is how we are perceived by others. Although what Hungarian music is is an important question, perhaps even more exciting is how we are seen by other cultures in relation to history. What were the first pieces of music that were based on Hungarian music? How are the Ungarescas spoken in Western sources? Why did foreigners write the best-known "Hungarian" music to date? Hungarian music in a different way.
