One of New York City's finest singer-songwriters, Joan As Police Woman celebrates live the 20th anniversary of the release of her stunning 2006 debut album, Real Life, with exclusive trio-format concerts.
At the performances the classic debut album, Real Life, is played in full with her excellent band; in addition, the concerts offer a selection of key songs from Joan As Police Woman's entire oeuvre, fan favorites, rarer deep cuts, reimagined covers and a few surprises. Besides her excellent solo records — the most recent of which is 2024's Lemons, Limes and Orchids — multi-instrumentalist Joan Wasser has collaborated with such great performers as Antony And The Johnsons, Rufus Wainwright, Elton John, Lou Reed, John Cale and many others.
Joan has often spoken about how vital music and creating are in her life: "Music saved my life. I am a devoted believer. This is not something I could choose or not choose — it simply is. The Real Life album carries the key to my whole life. Back then I felt I had to cram everything into a single record because I couldn't imagine ever making another. Now, twenty years later (and with twelve albums behind me) the dream continues to unfold.Today I still live for making music. The shared experience of a concert is a constant reminder of our shared humanity. Real Life was the spark that ignited my solo career, and I am genuinely excited to revisit the songs that mean so much to me and to Real Life's fans."
