The treasures of Spanish guitar playing
The universality of Spanish music is largely due to the perfect symbiosis that allows for a folk-inspired dialogue, where the essence and aroma of numerous landscapes and regions come to the fore. The instrument that stands as the universally recognized musical voice and root of a country is none other than the Spanish guitar.
In the 20th century, exoticism rooted in nationalism and impressionism sought to give music an authentic tone. As a result, it became inevitable for Spanish composers to refer to the technique and sound of the guitar.
The program Treasures of the Spanish Guitar consists of works by Enrique Granados, Isaac Albéniz, and Manuel de Falla, as well as a selection that evokes the roots of the entire movement, such as Federico García Lorca's collections of old flamenco songs—music that transcends its own era.
The concert is being organized with the cooperation of the Spanish Embassy in Hungary.
