The Evolution of Hip Hop: Culture, Community & The Four Elements

The Evolution of Hip Hop: Culture, Community & The Four Elements

Join Corey DePina, award-winning hip hop artist, educator, and Program Director at ZUMIX (Boston, USA), for an engaging and interactive workshop that explores the rich history and cultural evolution of hip hop.

From its roots in the Bronx to its global impact today, this session will guide participants through the story of hip hop as a movement built on creativity, resistance, and community. We’ll dive deep into the four foundational elements of hip hop—DJing, MCing, Graffiti, and Breakdancing—examining their origins, social context, and their role in shaping a powerful cultural identity. Through videos, storytelling, and hands-on activities, participants will not only learn the history but also experience the culture in action.

Whether you're a fan, artist, or simply curious, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to connect with the essence of hip hop and understand how it continues to inspire young people and communities worldwide. Come ready to learn, move, create, and build together.

This event is made possible with the help of Superar Hungary.
