Ádám Banda | Szabó Dániel Nonett
Ádám Banda | Szabó Dániel Nonett
The Bartók-themed evening of the House of Music, Hungary will include two concerts: one of Transylvanian folk music pieces by violinist Ádám Banda and pianist László Borbély, followed by Ali Dániel Lugosi, whose reading of Bartók evokes the spirit of Benny Goodman, 1930s uncrowned King of Swing, with his “wailing” clarinet – at times recalling the sharper sound characteristic of old-time folk bands as well. In the spirit of contrasts, the second half of the evening program is an experiment in a new musical language, a fusion of jazz and classical music: a nine-member ensemble led by pianist Dániel Nonett Szabó. Just before the concert, starting at 7 p.m., Szabó will give a lecture about the connections between Bartók and jazz. Admission to the talk is free upon presentation of your concert ticket.
