The exhibition LISTEN. - A musical journey around the world takes us on a journey through the wonderful, music-filled life of more than thirty countries. We get a taste of music's ancient, communal role.
A new series entitled World Village+ is launching at the House of Music, which, as a companion to Balázs Weyer's educational music series World Village, focuses on playing music together in a workshop format.

In this series introducing us to some great personalities, Gábor Turi’s Open University of Jazz will introduce visitors to the significant stages of a long life journey. Jazz has been a widely familiar concept for well over a century now, and a library of literature has been written about it. Conventionally described as the ‘music of improvisation’, the ‘folk music of the 20th century’, ‘rhythmic improvisational music’ or ‘the music of freedom’ – jazz is more than anything else a music of performers.
On the last Sunday of August, the last day of summer, the House of Music and the Embassy of Cuba will hold a Cuban Cultural Day, to celebrate the 65th anniversary of Hungarian-Cuban diplomatic relations. The free event will start with a screening of a cult Cuban film, Memorias del subdesarrollo (1968). The film will be screened in Spanish with English subtitles, followed by a concert by Bakary, featuring a cross between Cuban music and Latin jazz.
From time to time, the House of Music shares the curatorial duties with an artist, and the host of the next such Curatorial Weekend is Fanni Zahár, flautist, saxophonist, producer and DJ (Zakhorov), a well-known musician of her age, a member and contributor to countless formations both in Hungary and abroad. This time, the artist, who is at home in a wide range of genres, put together two events, a double performance evening and a concert with many actors on consecutive days during his Curatorial Weekend – during the winter-spring round.
