Scandinavian Tempo - Concert by the Dolcissimo Morbido String Quartet
Scandinavian Tempo - Concert by the Dolcissimo Morbido String Quartet
A day in thirty seconds
I sit at home all day,
and then when the evening falls, you come to me and ask:
What did you do today?
and I hand you a poem
which you read in 30 seconds.
(Jón Kalman Stefansson's poem, translated by Bence Patat)
This programme is held in Hungarian.
The etymological definition of tempo is "time, pace, rhythm, momentum". Time can be many things by its nature: happy, sad, cheerful, gloomy, or even stolen, flowing slowly or quickly. It can rush, but it can also stop for a moment. Music is closely connected to time (tempo), rhythm, timing, melodies, the pulse - these form its foundation.
On this year's Night of Museums, we invite you on a Scandinavian journey, under the aegis of Time. The foundation of quality time is provided by Danish string quartets performed by Dolcissimo Morbido, and between the musical pieces, we will also travel in space and time, thanks to literature - to Scandinavia. We all have some connection to Scandinavia. Not just because of Swedish furniture and meatballs, but many of us have been accompanied by Andersen's tales and Nils Holgersson's wonderful journeys with the wild geese since childhood. Who hasn't read a Scandinavian crime novel, seen a Bergman film, or the Swedish Anita Ekberg in La Dolce Vita? Who doesn't know the Swedish children's poems, first published in Hungary in the 1970s, which became cultic works, and inspired a new Scandinavian children's poem anthology to be published in 2023, selected and translated by Bence Patat. Bence Patat translates from Norwegian, Danish, Icelandic, Estonian, Swedish, Faroese and Finnish, among others, we owe him the Norwegian Karl Ove Knausgård (My Struggle series) and several works by the Icelandic Jón Kalman Stefánsson. On the Night of Museums, he will be in conversation with Eszter Száraz, editor-director, cultural journalist, regarding many literary connections to Time. Quality time with literature and Danish string quartets is expected at the House of Music on June 21st in the evening.
Program taking place at the House of Music within the framework of the Night of Museums.
Free event with the Night of Museums wristband.
Registration is requiered.
