SOLD-OUT - Loudspeaker Global - Sevdalinkas from a Bosnian café

Urban music, rooted in Ottoman times, has accompanied and still accompanies the daily life of the Bosnian people. One of the reasons for the unbroken popularity of sevdalinkas is that they stir the strongest emotions in both the singers and the listeners, with their intensity and beauty. The songs, often tear-jerking, are traditionally performed on the saz, but nowadays they are mainly accompanied by accordion, which adds endless possibilities of musical nuance to the melodies. And the most typical place for musical gatherings is the kafana, or café, a concept that is also a direct cultural legacy of Ottoman rule in the Balkans. The concert will offer an insight into this deeply human and magical world through the most famous melodies of the most important sevdalinka artists, together with the personal reflections of the evening's performers on the sevdalinka songs that link the past with the present, and which will charm not only lovers but also those who long for love.
