Minstrels' Evening: Szabolcs Róka, Mansur Bildik (TR/AT)
Szabolcs Róka has long been a well-known figure among Hungarian singers and performers of historical music as a cobza-lutenist, and on this particular evening he will perform with Mansur Bildik, the Turkish-born and Vienna-based bağlama (or saz) master to revive the similar yet distinct heritage of two cultures. A long tradition of singing is found in both Hungarian and Turkish music, as are the cobza and the bağlama, which share many similarities in themsleves, and Róka and Bildik are both masters in their respective fields, making this concert an exceptionally exciting encounter, especially as the event will be narrated by Szabolcs Róka, who will take us on a journey into this dimension of song.
