Bartók Konzi - New Music
In the past years, the Bartók Konzi - New Music concerts have featured compositions by the school's teachers and even students, in addition to the major composers of the 20th and 21st centuries. In addition to traditional concert formats, experimental productions are regularly staged, such as the audiovisual workshop and creative music theatre of Nándor Götz. The organisers are keen to involve as many students as possible in the various programmes, which will then be performed during a spring project day.
The concert at the House of Music will feature pieces by Barnabás Dukay, a member of the legendary New Music Studio, Conservatory teacher Ilona Meskó and Péter Tornyai, a member of the younger generation, as well as excerpts from Bartók's pedagogical piano cycle Mikrokozmos, transcribed for string orchestra by András Soós. But experimentation is not to be missed either: excerpts from Ligeti's compositions will be followed by soundpainting commentaries*.
*Soundpainting is a musical game that appeared at the turn of the millennium. The conductor uses hand signals to indicate to the musicians instructions for pitch, tempo and dynamics. In our improved experiment, we now add the musical ideas of György Ligeti to the palette to paint an exciting soundscape.
