SOLD-OUT - Only from Pure Sources! Interesting Facts about Béla Bartók

Our Hangadó Senior series is aimed at all ages, and is designed to act as a club, playfully narrating a chapter of music history through an hour-long interactive journey through time. The target audience is seniors, but of course everyone is welcome to join us for a cup of tea. Our club afternoon will focus on Béla Bartók, a major figure of 20th century Hungarian music. His life was full of unexpected twists and turns, and we will take a look into these on this afternoon.

Béla Bartók was a major figure in the history of 20th century Hungarian music. From a Hungarian perspective, as a folk music collector and researcher, he did a fantastic job alongside Zoltán Kodály. His folkloristic works are gems of Hungarian music literature. He had an exciting career, and the greatest tragedy of this reclusive artist was leaving his beloved homeland. Unable to stay in Europe in the run-up to the war, he was struck by homesickness in a foreign land. Bartók's letters and writings, his works, all testify to his love of his country. What are the facts behind this decision? What kind of man was Béla Bartók? His letters and writings contain many interesting facts! Let's get to know him better! We can spend a pleasant Friday afternoon together, listening to music and playing quizzes, while listening to more anecdotes.

The lecture will be given by Dóra Tápai, conductor, secondary school teacher and music teacher at the House of Music Hungary.

The lecture will be held in Hungarian.
