Kaláka - Often played hits, rarely played wonders
This programme is held in Hungarian.
When a common name ('kalaka') becomes a property, there is always an exciting story behind it. And if more people know the proper name (Kaláka) than the original meaning, it is a miracle. This is the miracle that we would like to present on the stage of the House of Music, where we will pay tribute to this famous orchestra all day long. After the morning family programme and the screening of the film about the orchestra - Kaláka: From the Carpathians to the Caribbean - the evening concert will feature often-played hits and rarely performed miracles. We are looking forward to an unforgettable Kaláka Day on Saturday 27 September at the House of Music!
Kaláka's oeuvre is unimaginably rich, with a long line of wonderful songs written to the poems of outstanding poets, children's poems set to music, the melodic world of Hungarian folk tales, other film and TV soundtracks, unforgettable concerts, educational events and, of course, love-talk. Kaláka is in the DNA of the Hungarian people. For generations they were the first entry into the world of good music as children. Thanks to them, many generations know the defining Hungarian poems by heart. They have hundreds of songs that are eternal and will survive in the decades and centuries to come. To close Kalálka Day, the evening concert will feature a cross-section of this oeuvre, a little like the orchestra's Ti akarátok! performances, when the concert programme is put together by audience votes.
Only now, the House of Music has thrown in a rich selection, from which Kaláka has put together a show in which, in addition to the frequently played popular songs, you can also hear less frequently performed compositions.
