Hangadó Junior - What Kinds of Music Are There?
This programme is held in Hungarian.
There isn't, and never has been, a people in the world that hasn't had its own distinctive music. So we can already hold up our thumbs for counting: we've certainly already named one kind of music, folk music. (And Jesus, how many fingers would it take to count all the different folk musics within that! 😁) Then the experts will surely also know that the blues grew out of African American folk music, from which jazz emerged, from which R&B came, from which rock’n’roll came, from which pop and rock came, from which metal came, and… Jesus, where are we at this point? And of course there's classical music as well (which doesn't have to be serious music at all)! So it's not easy to answer what kinds of music there are; we don't promise to list every style — it would take all the audience's toes and fingers, and maybe not even all their hairs — but we do promise that at least we'll examine what the biggest genres are and what their characteristics are, with special attention to popular music.
So on this occasion of the entertaining family show Hangadó Junior we set out to tackle this big task, and we hope it's amid lots and lots of laughter! The show's host this time will again be Tarr Feri, the concert educator of the House of Music, and the guest will be the band Lóci játszik, who are famous not only for their humor but also for their wide-ranging musical knowledge! Of course our regular features will help us again this time: the funny music history, the group music session, and the music-analysis exercise. We hope that thanks to all this, not only will every child go home richer by one (good) experience, but also with a love of music!
