The House of Music from time to time shares curatorial duties with an artist; the next such Curatorial weekend host is Hégli Dusán, who is the artistic director of the Bratislava-based Ifjú szivek Táncszínház . During the Saturday evening concert of the weekend he curated, fresh ideas and novel perspectives meet, expressed as part of a distinctive genre synthesis. The concert is shaped by musical worlds that feed off each other yet have different atmospheres. The musicians have created their own musical language in which familiar motifs acquire new meaning and new experience in a new context.
The IS String Quartet is a regular presence in the productions of the Bratislava Ifjú Szivek Táncszínház, and also appears in standalone concerts. The ensemble follows several traditions, which, alongside enhancing the complexity of the musical experience, have made it possible to develop a colorful and unique toolkit. Their first record was released in 2020 under the title Giuoco Piano, which features, alongside traditional music, compositions by Gergely Dávid Hegedűs and Máté Hegedűs. They have already collaborated with musicians of great stature such as Branford Marsalis, Barnabás Kelemen and Petar Ralchev.
Ľubomír Gašpar grew up in the world of folklore and later mastered the crafts of classical and jazz music. He won the Radio Head Awards for his album “The Point of View.” He approaches the cimbalom with a new perspective: he exploits all of its tonal colors and combines it with musical elements that are not typical for the instrument. He gladly draws on the traditions of different peoples of the world, which he fuses with jazz and other genres. Over the course of his career he has worked with, among others, Adam Ben Ezra, the Roby Lakatos Ensemble, the Barcelona Gypsy Balkan Orchestra, Simona Hulejová and many other excellent artists. Following his own path, he has developed an inimitable musical signature.
