Igor and Ivan Buharov: Eternal Intentionfield Tuning

This programme is held in Hungarian.

The Buharov brothers, Igor and Ivan Buharov (Kornél Szilágyi and Nándor Hevesi), are key figures in Hungarian independent film. Over the past thirty years, they have created a dozen distinctive, low-budget, yet highly impactful films. The creative duo also achieves significant successes internationally: for instance, in 2018, they participated in one of Austria's most significant contemporary art festivals, Steirischer Herbst in Graz, with a large-scale new project, which was presented to the local audience in 2019 at the headquarters of the Vasas Trade Union Confederation.

In Graz, the artists created a site-specific, multimedia performance installation titled "Eternal Intention Field Tuning," transforming the Communist Party of Austria's headquarters into a laboratory for the upcoming revolution, a mystical-scientific shrine offering both political and spiritual alternatives. For those who watched the Buharov brothers' latest film, "Most of the Souls That Live Here" (2016), with attention, it might have become apparent that the revolution of the animals failed. Thus, for the next revolutionary attempt, in the name of broader social cooperation and inter-species communication, they enlisted the help of plants this time.

The creative duo did not randomly choose plants as allies for the upcoming revolution, as they possess the world's most extensive and interconnected information network, offering alternative communication channels at a historical moment when data security seems to be collapsing and we, humans, increasingly become the subject of digital surveillance and control. Drawing from the latest discoveries in bioenergetics, electromagnetics, and parasciences, the Buharovs deploy everything to make the long-awaited revolution successful, from obsidian mirrors used for future and past journeys in Central American cultures, Tesla coils to master and medicinal plants for expanding and altering consciousness. Naturally, human collaborators are indispensable: the surreal audiovisual and performative journey, along with the revolutionary transformation, are guaranteed by influential figures in the independent art and music scene, such as film director Szabolcs Hajdu, actresses Orsolya Török-Illyés, Iringó Réti, and Hermina Fátyol, musicians Miklós Paizs, László Horváth, Szabolcs Vereb, and Gergely Kovács, as well as visual artists Viktória Monhor, József Szolnoki, and Csaba Vándor.

Through this collaboration spanning species and genres, the Buharov brothers invite the audience to explore a unique, magical parallel universe: "On the path of Eternal Intention Field Tuning, we ask everyone to initiate pure resolution and desire, listen to the intuition of the heart, develop alternative communication channels through plant and human bioenergies, and thus overcome the final barrier standing before freedom, even with the help of the Good Opinion Anarchist Lodge."
