World Village – Musical Open University: Rozina Pátkai
This programme is held in Hungarian.
In Balázs Weyer's popular series World Village – Free University of Music, the topic of this lecture is bossa nova, one of the foundations of Brazilian culture. Bossa nova is an exceptional musical story of the 20th century in every respect: the circumstances of its invention are well known, yet many people consider it folk music because it is so deeply rooted in Brazilian culture. On the other hand, a trio consisting of a composer, a lyricist-poet, and a performer changed almost everything so quickly that a few years after the first recordings, their songs were being sung everywhere, from luxury ship pianists to Frank Sinatra, and the bossa nova rhythm itself infiltrated every genre in no time and is still with us today. Our guest, Rozina Pátkai, is a lover of the genre and has made several bossa nova albums.
