The Royal Opera: Carmen
The Royal Opera: Carmen
The London Royal Opera House production of Bizet's Carmen will be broadcast live via satellite to audiences at the House of Music in a truly unique way. Not only is the classic opera making its debut on the stage of the Royal Opera House in London with a new production, but the London performance of the two-part, 225-minute work, including intermission, will be screened at the House of Music at the same time. Damiano Michieletto's swirling new production captures all the passion of Bizet's score, from the sultry eroticism of Carmen's Habanera to the testosterone of the exuberant Torreador. Antonello Manacorda – Emmanuel Villaume on other nights – conducts an exciting international star cast, with Ajgul Akmechina in the title role.
