Micro-Folie Virtual Museum
The Micro-Folie virtual museum, which exhibits the treasures of the world’s largest collections in a single space, will be on display in the foyer of the House of Music from 7 to 20 March. The installation will be accompanied by two educational lectures (on 5 and 14 March) by art historian Júlia Katona, while Micro-Folie coordinator Krisztina Gerhardt will make 15-minute presentations on French cultural history twice a day (at 11 am and 3 pm) on most days from 7 to 20 March when the building is open. But what is Micro-Folie?
The Micro-Folie is a global selection of works of art presenting digital versions of paintings from the Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay, the Picasso Museum and many others. It is a digital tour and mobile museum that can be experienced free of charge in the House of Music foyer. It exhibits high-resolution digitalised photographs, 3D images and video footage of several thousand wonderful works of art that have been uploaded to the digital museum for anyone who visits Micro-Folie to see. With the assistance of a huge screen and tablet, as well as the VR headsets provided, it is possible to zoom in on the pictures to observe details that would otherwise be impossible to see in a museum.
It makes no difference if the visitors to Micro-Folie are nursery school children, university students learning French or adults interested in the arts, this virtual museum has something new and exciting to offer everyone. The digital content of Micro-Folie has now been expanded to include special pieces from dozens of museums around the world.
15-minute presentations by Micro-Folie coordinator Krisztina Gerhardt:
7-9 March: 11 am and 3 pm
11 March: 3 pm
12,14-16 March: 11 am and 3 pm
18 March: 3 pm
19-20 March: 11 am and 3 pm
The installation has been made possible with the support of the Budapest French Institute and La Villette.
