Salsa in the Park
Salsa in the Park
This programme is held in Hungarian.
The highly successful Salsa in the Park dance program will entertain Latin music enthusiasts this summer and early fall on the Outdoor Stage of the House of Music. At the free events in 2025, alongside the Budapest-based Son tres band, José DJ Cuba's Latin sets and Bea's dance lessons will expand the program. The DJ sets and band blocks will alternate. Son tres has toured across Europe, and the band comprises artists with Venezuelan, Cuban, and Colombian roots, bringing passionate and vibrant Latin rhythms to the audience. The members of Son tres guarantee a fantastic atmosphere at every party, while playing bachata, salsa, cumbia, reggaeton, and other Latin styles – this time, of course, with a focus on salsa!
Guillermo Macsotay, singer and bandleader, was born in Venezuela to a Hungarian father and a Venezuelan mother. He studied music in Venezuela at the ArsNova school, as well as in the United States and Hungary, achieving success with various salsa and fusion bands. He is one of the best Hungarian fusion pianists, having graduated from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, and took his first steps in Aladár Pege's band, where he played as a professional pianist for more than 15 years. Today, he specializes not only in Latin music but also owns two solo albums. Angel Miguel León Cruz, a Cuban percussionist with a long career, originally began his career at the Vienna-based, world-renowned Havana Son Club, representing Cuban culture around the world. Aldober Acevedo, a Colombian bassist, composer, and musician, has had a long career with bands such as Richie Ray and Bobby Cruz, as well as Grupo Niche. In the late 1990s, he moved to Asia, where he played in Thailand, China, and the Southeast Asian region, currently living in Budapest. The trio is also complemented by pianist Zsolt Koloncsák at this performance.
