Daveform Quintet & Kurt Rosenwinkel (USA)
Szervezés:
At the album launch concert of Blue Waves, a joint performance by the trailblazing New York jazz guitar legend Kurt Rosenwinkel—who has already given a highly successful concert at the House of Music—and the Daveform Quintet, made up of some of the most outstanding talents of Hungarian jazz, the audience can expect a truly special musical experience. The Daveform Quintet and Rosenwinkel each represent a distinctive musical world in their own right, but together, by inspiring one another, they open up new dimensions of modern jazz.
Dávid Szegő, drummer-composer and leader of the quintet (which has also given a sold-out concert at the House of Music), already proved the success of his collaboration with Rosenwinkel at their sold-out Müpa concert in 2025. After that, they recorded the Blue Waves album that is now being presented.
Following the album launch concert, the record will be available for purchase at the venue in a limited edition on vinyl and CD, and the audience will also be able to support the band by purchasing special merch items.
The Daveform Quintet, founded in 2022 by Dávid Szegő, uniquely fuses American, Balkan, and Scandinavian musical influences with the world of contemporary classical music and modern grooves. Behind their distinctive melodic language lie complex musical processes that unfold like cinematic stories, giving an important role to every member of the band. The quintet, made up of key figures of the Hungarian jazz scene – Krisztián Oláh, Gábor Subicz, Dániel Mester, Lőrinc Ágoston Mohácsy, and Dávid Szegő – guarantees a captivating concert experience.
At the Blue Waves album launch, new compositions will also be performed, serving as a preview of the band’s next record.
Kurt Rosenwinkel is one of the most influential creators in contemporary jazz. As a guitarist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, he is one of the most impactful artists of his generation, whose innovative sound world has fundamentally shaped 21st-century jazz. A milestone of his career is the 2001 release The Next Step, which many consider one of the most important modern jazz albums of all time. Rosenwinkel has worked with artists such as Brian Blade, Paul Motian, Joshua Redman, Aaron Goldberg, Louis Cole, Q-Tip, Questlove, and Eric Clapton. His music uniquely blends lyricism, harmonic richness, and bold improvisation.
Rosenwinkel’s unmistakable electric guitar sound adds a new, ethereal dimension to the acoustic sound of the Daveform Quintet, becoming one of the most distinctive musical characteristics of the Blue Waves album.
