Budapest Festival Orchestra's European Orchestra Academy
Szervezés:
The programme is held in Hungarian.
The European Orchestra Academy (European Orchestra Academy – EOA) is an innovative initiative launched in 2024 by the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the European Union Youth Orchestra, and Iván Fischer. The Academy aims to create a radically new learning model through collaboration between young European musicians and the BFZ’s experienced orchestral musicians, fostering the preservation and transmission of cultural values through making music together and taking part in a variety of masterclasses. The EOA has established an important partnership with the Kronberg Academy, under which talented students of the Kronberg Academy perform joint concerts with EOA musicians in Budapest and Kronberg once a year; this event is the Hungarian leg of the two academies’ collaboration.
The concert opens with Antonio Vivaldi’s Sinfonia ”Al Santo Sepolcro”, followed by Johann Sebastian Bach’s Piano Concerto in F minor, performed by the talented Itamar Carmeli. Next is Tchaikovsky’s work for solo cello and orchestra, Variations on a Rococo Theme, Op. 33, featuring Alexandra Kahrer as soloist. It is characterized by Mozartian charm and exceptionally delicate orchestration. After the intermission, the concert concludes with Mozart’s Symphony in G minor. The chamber orchestra was prepared by Gordan Nikolić, former concertmaster of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, and both outstanding soloists are students of the Kronberg Academy.
