HolddalaNap Band - A Tapestry of Sound Woven from Silence
Szervezés:
This programme is held in Hungarian.
The HolddalaNap Ensemble was born from the inner silences of its album A Sound Carpet Woven from Silence: the 2023 release is made up of compositions that process intense times, often reflect pain, yet heal, comfort, and offer hope. The songs reflect on the environmental crisis, difficult life situations, facing illness and grief, the pain and joy experienced in relationships, war, and the longed-for peace. These intimate compositions grew out of the deep friendship between the eight musicians and the bond they share, supporting one another through their voices. Rich arrangements, complex rhythmic interplay, and colorful threads of musical lines and embellishments: a magical carpet of sound! May this music lift us into the blessed realms of healing and peace! “We had a big idea: how lovely it would be to bathe the grown-up members of the family in a sound bath, whisk them away for an evening in bags of silence, and carry them up—and ever higher—on a sound carpet woven from silence! Embraced by songs, our contemplative musical material gathers the lessons of difficult life situations into music, rocking and healing us.”
The HolddalaNap Ensemble primarily dresses its own songs in garments woven from the group’s shared musical knowledge. Hungarian folk music is home to every member; they all grew up by the waters of this source. “Then, each of us followed our own life and path: we became more deeply acquainted with early music, Balkan and Latin American music, and perhaps most of us in the group with flamenco instruments and vocal techniques, and its world of melodies. In this way, the knowledge each of us brings forms the foundation of the world music we make, because today the music of the world, too, is woven into our dreams; behind the thousand flavors of sound, the many different worlds pulse…”
