Folk Songs Around the World
Concert
Szervezés:
This programme is held in Hungarian.
After last year’s hugely successful double sold-out concert, the Eszterhéj Műhely’s world-traveling boots are returning to the House of Music to guide families across the folk music map of Eastern Europe.
The special feature of World-Traveling Children’s Songs is that, inspired by the music of European peoples, the songs are performed with the authentic sound characteristic of each people—all in a playful, child-centered way. At this seven-language concert, Greek, Serbian, Romanian, Moravian, Jewish, and Roma songs will be heard in their original languages and in Hungarian, with lyrics by Sándor Weöres, István Csukás, and Ágnes Daróczi.
The founders of Eszterhéj Műhely are Eszter Karát and Krisztián Fekete. They have worked together in arts education for over five years. Krisztián is a music educator and folk musician who plays the cimbalom, and Eszterhéj’s musical director. Eszter is a singer and teacher, and the project’s creator—she is responsible for the educational background of the programs. They are partners not only on stage but in their personal lives as well: husband and wife. In recent years, they have regularly held concerts and children’s dance houses for children aged 0–12, from Transcarpathia through Upper Hungary to Prague.
Their album World-Traveling Children’s Songs, released in 2025, is the culmination of their years of educational experience and their musical interests.
