This programme is held in Hungarian.

The five-disc series released by Hungaroton, presenting all of Mozart’s works for piano performed by Gábor Farkas, is a remarkable undertaking in the history of Hungarian record production and piano performance. Selecting works from the series, the artist evokes the richly varied musical world of perhaps the most popular composer of all time in a special evening. The program features the lyrical Adagio movement of the Sonata in F major (K. 280), the light and melodic Sonata in C major (K. 330), the dramatically powerful Fantasia in C minor (K. 475), and the passionately expressive Sonata in A minor (K. 310). The concert will also include a discussion in which, in response to questions from András Batta, the participants will talk about how the concept for the five-disc album came about, the artistic challenges of recording Mozart’s complete piano works, and behind-the-scenes details of the recordings. The event thus offers both a concert experience and a glimpse into the making of an exceptional record series.

A recipient of the Liszt Ferenc and Junior Prima awards, Gábor Farkas is one of the most outstanding pianists of his generation and a widely acclaimed interpreter of the classical and Romantic repertoire. He has won several international piano competitions and is a regular guest at the world’s most prestigious music festivals and concert halls. He has released numerous solo albums on the Hungaroton, Warner Music Hungary, Toccata Classics London, and Steinway & Sons Records labels. Since the 2020/2021 academic year, he has headed the Keyboard Department and Doctoral School at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music; since 2025, he has also served as the Academy’s rector. He is also a visiting professor at the Tokyo College of Music in Japan.

The concerts of our Tuned to Piano program series can easily captivate those who are still far from the world of romantic piano literature, while they also hold new experiences for those who come to the House of Music Hungary as black-belt classical music fans.
