This programme is held in Hungarian.
In 2022, a permanent program titled Rock and Roll Free University was launched on a monthly basis at the MZH Pop Culture Club Library. The Rock and Roll Free University presents the most important processes and performers in international pop history. In a somewhat simplified understanding, rock and roll is the result of a unique cultural-historical union: when the music tradition of black slaves brought from Africa (blues) and white settlers emigrated from Europe (country) met and constantly intermingled on a third continent, America. Moreover, all this took place in a society undergoing radical changes following technological development and the associated industrialization and urbanization. In the eighth season of this series (fall 2025), we will examine the social, cultural, and musical events that occurred in the United Kingdom (and partly in the United States) during the 1960s and 1970s.
