Marta Pereira da Costa (POR)
The Portuguese guitar, this fuller, convex shaped instrument, is historically associated with men and the fado as an accompaniment, but Marta Pereira da Costa breaks these traditions and presents the Portuguese guitar as an instrumental voice within the genre, contrary to the vocal fado traditions, and pioneers it among women, being the first to do so. The Portuguese guitar is fundamentally an instrument of traditional Portuguese music and fado, and Marta Pereira da Costa's music is based on this, but in live performances she wanders into jazz, Cape Verdean morna, Brazilian chorinho, and generally into the trends of global music. In Marta Pereira da Costa's music, the instrument finds itself in a new sound space, complemented by a piano, which is played by Oscar Graça.
In addition to the songs from the new album, they also play old compositions and other well-known pieces (such as Verdes Anos, Summertime, Terra, Encontro, Dia de Feira, Fado Lopes, etc. ), the audience will be invited on a journey full of sounds and emotions, where the Portuguese guitar is the protagonist and the "voice", guided by Marta's sensitivity and delicacy - but all will be treated to an intense, powerful and dynamic performance that will surprise and captivate the audience until the last chord.
