Ostinato is a word meaning ‘to play repeatedly without change or interruption’ – something that is an everyday reality for many people living with autism spectrum disorders. Music, however, has the power to help us break out of this cycle because while making music, inflexibility can be transformed into adaptation, constraint into free expression, and difficulties caused by communication and social situations into new relationships and connections.
