Soul of Spain - Laura Mota Pello Piano Recital
Soul of Spain - Laura Mota Pello Piano Recital
This programme is held in Hungarian.
Laura Mota Pello is one of the most remarkable piano virtuosos of her generation, with a number of outstanding competition results to her name despite her young age. For her first concert in Hungary, she will perform an extremely varied programme: Alban Berg's poignantly emotional youthful work will be followed by Beethoven's no less turbulent last piano sonata, and then a piano transcription by Ferenc Liszt of the melodies of a well-known choral work from Verdi's opera La troubadour. The artist's native Spain is then evoked through a few movements of Isaac Albéniz's monumental piano cycle Iberia, and finally, once again, one of Liszt's most virtuosic works, the sonata inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy.
The triennial international piano competition, organised by the Géza Anda Foundation in Zurich, is one of Europe's most prestigious classical music events. The Foundation's aim is to support young musicians of outstanding talent, as well as to cherish the memory of its namesake, the world-famous Hungarian pianist who spent most of his life in Switzerland. In 2024, Laura Mota Pello won the Hortense Anda Special Prize and the House of Music Special Prize at the competition.
The concerts of our Tuned to Piano program series can easily captivate those who are still far from the world of romantic piano literature, while they also hold new experiences for those who come to the House of Music Hungary as black-belt classical music fans.
