An Evening With Freddie Mercury and Peter Freestone fr. Milan Devinne & Band

Language of the performance: English.

An intimate, emotional and truly unique evening hosted by Peter Freestone, Freddie Mercury’s closest friend and for many years his personal assistant, who stood by the world-famous singer for twelve years.

Peter leads the audience behind the scenes of the world of Queen: he talks about the creative process, the everyday life of tours and backstage, the band’s most memorable moments, as well as personal stories from Freddie’s final years. He also offers a special insight into the making of the Oscar-winning film Bohemian Rhapsody, which portrays Freddie Mercury’s life, where he worked as an official technical consultant.

The evening is special for its interactive format: Peter’s storytelling is complemented by live, acoustic Queen songs performed by Czech singer and musician Milan Devinne, who is the only Czech artist to have appeared in Bohemian Rhapsody alongside the original cast.

The programme is completed by screenings of original photographs and rare video footage from Peter Freestone’s personal archive, allowing the audience to feel as if they are getting a direct glimpse into the life of one of the greatest musical icons of all time.

Peter Freestone

Peter Freestone was born on 8 January 1955 in Surrey, near London. He spent part of his childhood in India, then studied in West London. He began his career in the catering department of Selfridges, later working in the costume department of the Royal Ballet. By chance he met Freddie Mercury, and soon joined the team as caretaker of Queen’s tour costumes. Not long afterwards, he became Freddie’s personal assistant and worked alongside him for more than a decade.

After Freddie Mercury’s death, he lived in seclusion for a few years, then joined Guy’s Hospital in London and later took part in various cultural and tourism projects. In 2001 he moved to the Czech Republic, where he is active in opera, education and AIDS prevention programmes. He has since been a regular participant in international events commemorating Freddie Mercury, especially in Montreux, Switzerland.

Milan Devinne

Milan Devinne (1993) is a Czech singer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, director and occasional actor. He is the only Czech performer to have appeared in the film Bohemian Rhapsody. Between 2017 and 2023 he worked as Peter Freestone’s manager and still maintains a close professional relationship with him.

He founded the Up2Life organisation, which works in the fields of HIV/AIDS prevention and social awareness. He also created the Titanic Freddie Aids (TFA Project) educational programme, for which he received an award for social impact from a Mexican university network. The project is carried out in cooperation with the Czech National Institute of Public Health.

Milan Devinne has worked with several international music professionals, including Mike Moran, Freddie Mercury and Queen’s songwriting partner, and Hermjo Klein, who previously organised tours for artists such as David Bowie, Prince, Johnny Cash and the Rolling Stones. With his concerts and productions he has toured the United States, South Africa, Mexico, Japan, Switzerland and Italy. His current flagship project is David Bowie Symphony, a large-scale symphonic rock production preparing for a European tour, while he is also working on two new studio albums.
