At the first Fila Rap Jam in 1996, Sub Bass Monster appeared 30 years ago as one of the first defining figures of the Hungarian hip-hop scene, becoming one of the most successful performers around the turn of the millennium and in the 2000s. From time to time he proves with new albums that his talent has not faded in the least. Now – after his first two classic LPs have been released on vinyl – he is just ahead of a new full-length record, and at the House of Music he will present a cross-section of his entire career with his band made up of excellent musicians.
Sub Bass Monster, celebrating the 30th anniversary of his career, started rapping under the influence of Naughty by Nature, first standing out with the duo Hemapopu, then as a solo artist from the field of Fila Rap Jam rap talent contests, which resulted in a debut full-length album in 1999. With the friendly support of Animal Cannibals, he launched his career and, together with producer Balázs “Balage” Deseő, created two classic albums. With numerous hits, successful videos and countless performances, Sub Bass Monster became one of the most popular Hungarian performers of the turn of the millennium and the early 2000s. Later he slowed down the pace, but his records, songs and collaborations are still major events, just like his performances – among which this concert celebrating his thirty-year career will undoubtedly be a memorable one.
