This programme is held in Hungarian.
Sound/man is a special conversation-and-music series where well-known musicians, as storytellers, share their personal experiences and creative secrets. It’s a unique experience that creates truly special moments for passionate fans who are interested not only in the music, but also in the musicians’ personal stories. The audience can experience the performance, enriched with musical interludes, in a special “stageless,” intimate atmosphere, ensuring a personal, direct and one-of-a-kind event. This time with the stories and songs of Henri Gonzo (Fran Palermo, Henri Gonzo and the Paper Kites).
Henri Gonzo (Gonzalez), a Cuban-Spanish-Hungarian multi-instrumentalist composer, has been an active performer in the Hungarian indie music scene for 15 years. The Fonogram and Petőfi Award-winning Henri is the songwriter-frontman, producer, visionary graphic artist and often even the director of the music videos for Fran Palermo and Henri Gonzo és a Papírsárkányok. In addition to his bands, he often performs solo as well, with thematic evenings – such as Bob Dylan cover nights – or looser programs, playing several instruments live at the same time...
Henri Gonzo already appeared in the first episode of the Songwriters’ Circle in the year the House of Music opened, together with Vera Jónás, Noémi Barkóczi and Dávid Szesztay. On this evening, however, he is moving from the main stage into the living room, welcoming his audience with personal stories and compositions in the cozy spaces of the Pop Cultural Club Library. What led from Fran Palermo’s English-language indie albums to the Hungarian baroque psychedelia of Papírsárkányok? What was it like trying his luck as a street musician in London? What inspired him as a teenage frontman, and what occupies him these days, when he often performs solo as well? We can get answers to much more personal questions, too, on this intimate evening, which really feels as if you were visiting Henri in a small circle of friends. It’s not worth missing out on the guest list; it can fill up quickly!
