History and extraordinary talent have shaped our culture for generations. György Cziffra’s life and artistry are a remarkable example of this. His 105th birth anniversary is therefore a special occasion in Hungary’s classical music scene and an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding legacy he left behind.Now a tradition, the Cziffra Festival welcomes its audience with a special gala programme on this significant anniversary. This evening promises a unique synthesis of literature and music. as Judit Halász and Géza Hegedűs D. will read excerpts from Cziffra’s deeply personal memoirand outstanding pianists - Tamás Érdi and Gábor Farkas- will evoke at the piano the spirit and musical legacy of the legendary master.
The artists and the evening’s host, János Balázs, will also pay tribute to the renowned Hungarian pianist and conductor Tamás Vásáry, who passed away last year.
The evening will also feature an award ceremony, where some of today’s outstanding talents will be recognised with the prestigious Cziffra Festival awards.
