Szervezés:
This programme is held in Hungarian.
László Sallai launched his musical-literary evening entitled The Secret History of Nyugat two years ago. The musician, who plays in several bands (Felső Tízezer, Galaxisok, Platon Karataev), is a qualified Hungarian and history teacher; in this hour-and-a-half-long performance he recalls the lesser-known turning points in the history of the legendary journal, and through the musical adaptations of poems, the portraits we know from – or that were left out of – our literature textbooks come closer to us.
During the evening 11 poem adaptations are performed, and it will also be revealed
- what the secret of Nyugat’s literary success was and what caused its constant financial troubles
- which literary debate led to a duel
- which Hungarian politician was Nyugat’s fiercest enemy
- in what carefully selected ways Zsigmond Móricz and Mihály Babits tried to get on each other’s nerves.
Dear Visitor, We kindly inform you that during the event, photographs, audio recordings, and/or video recordings may be taken. By attending the event, you consent to the recording of such materials through your implied conduct.
