Átváltozások: történetek a barokktól a minimalizmusig

The Lyon-based Trio SR9 arrives with an especially exciting repertoire: in their programme spanning three hundred years, great classics and fresh works are performed, reimagined for percussion instruments. Composers on the bill include late-Baroque master Jean-Philippe Rameau, American representative of (post)minimalism John Adams, Nils Frahm from the Berlin electronic music scene, the young Polish singer and pianist Hania Rani, as well as early-twentieth-century French luminaries such as Claude Debussy, Erik Satie and the tragically fated Lili Boulanger. In addition to traditional percussion instruments like the vibraphone and marimba, the trio incorporates glassware and other everyday objects into their music, sounds not often heard at classical music concerts.

The Trio SR9 percussion ensemble is made up of founding members Paul Changarnier, Nicolas Cousin and Alexandre Esperet, who met as students at the Lyon Conservatory and, thanks to their outstanding competition results, soon attracted international attention. One of their main objectives is expanding the percussion repertoire: they regularly perform arrangements of a wide variety of works and present pieces composed specifically for them. They continuously seek opportunities for collaboration and have frequently performed as part of dance and theatre productions. In their career to date they have released four albums and are regular participants in classical music television and radio broadcasts in France.
