Táncház (Dance House): Amor Fati Band

This programme is held in Hungarian.

This year, the free Dance House outdoors continues from May to September on the Open-Air stage of the House of Music, with the amor fati band playing at the first occasion, and dance instruction being provided by Katica Nagy and Bence Plaszkó to assist those interested.

The founder of amor fati is Fatima Szalay, and the band's first album titled amor fati was released in December 2023 by Hangvető. The album is a life-affirming testimony of love for music, emotions, musical familiarity, and the intertwining of all these. The album's title is a play on the singer's name, while also reflecting the awareness that characterizes the entire concept. In addition to Hungarian folk music, the band's repertoire is defined by openness to the music of ethnic groups that live with us and affect us the most. These peoples have shaped Hungarian culture and music for hundreds of years, so the album includes Turkish, Romanian, Roma, and Croatian songs as well. In addition to authentic Hungarian folk music, the album features musical settings of poems, world music, and sung tales. The members of the band are individually active young musicians who participate in various folk and world music formations and are committed to the cause of Hungarian folk music, but they are also willing to experiment with genres other than folk music.

In the band, the authentic folk music is more strongly represented by the string section – Pál Danhauser, László Domonkos Bálint, Máté Tóth – who will be performing during the evening, while László Szlama and Bendegúz Avas strengthen the world music section.
