This program will be held in Hungarian.
Charles Aznavour, Mirelle Mathieu, Edith Piaf... Do you know these names? They dominated the music stage for decades, not just in France. The chanson is indeed intertwined with national consciousness in France, but Europe as a whole adored these singers! A line of divas and icons is associated with this genre, whose roots go back to the 14th century! We invite those interested in a 90-minute time travel, enriched with lots of music and interesting stories!
Sanzon or chanson? Which is correct? The answer: both! What does the definition say?
“The chanson is a French-origin song type. It is characterized by a serious message...” In its modern sense, the chanson appears at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries and gains incredible popularity. A whole series of world-famous performers popularized it: the names Edith Piaf, Charles Aznavour mean something to generations. However, the genre's roots go back to the late Middle Ages. The word chanson already referred to a musical genre in the 14th century in France, naturally still denoting a completely different - secular songs performed solo or with a choir - genre. Where did the chanson genre start, and how did it evolve over the centuries? Let's trace the key milestones together and look back at the past, getting to know great performers and wonderful music! The traces lead all the way to the Notre Dame Cathedral! A special tool will aid the look into the past, as the interactive database of the French Institute, Micro-Folie, will be a guest with us on this occasion. It provides access to a wealth of information and visual material, everything considered precious from a French national perspective. On this pleasant Wednesday afternoon spiced up with music listening, singing, and quiz games, the good mood and interesting stories will once again be provided by Dóra Tápai, conductor, high school music teacher, and music educator at the House of Music.
Our series Hangadó Senior is especially aimed at older participants, but of course we welcome anyone who is interested. The aim of the series is to act as a club and to playfully tell a chapter of music history in an hour-long interactive journey through time.
