Szeged Family Day
This programme is held in Hungarian.
During our thematic weekend City in the House - Szeged, the Saturday family day in Szeged concludes with an evening concert where the Szeged Symphony Orchestra presents its Vivaldi and Piazzolla program titled “Eight Seasons”.
Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" violin concerto series is one of the most popular musical pieces. Its concept inspired the Argentine composer, the "King of Tango" Astor Piazzolla, who composed his work "Four Seasons of Buenos Aires," humorously quoting from Vivaldi's piece at several points. The works are not played consecutively but "interwoven": the seasons are presented with the corresponding pieces from each composition placed side by side.
Since its opening, the mission of the House of Music has been to showcase the musical life of Hungarian cities, which led to the creation of our City in the House series. Within this framework, cities with rich musical and cultural life like Pécs, Székesfehérvár, Veszprém, and Debrecen have already showcased their diverse musical life, outstanding ensembles, artistic festivals, and emerging talents in a colorful program cavalcade. During the last weekend of May and the first weekend of June, which transitions from spring to summer, the audience of the House of Music can get to know Szeged's musical life. The City in the House series embodies the House's mission, and the Szeged program lineup features both genre diversity and educational elements, while also providing opportunities for future talents to showcase themselves. The Saturday Szeged Family Day and Sunday Szeged Carnival present programs covering the widest range of genres, from classical music - led by the Saturday evening concert of the Szeged Symphony Orchestra - through the productions of the Kövér Béla Puppet Theatre to folk and jazz performances, and educational discussions.

Rúzsa Sándor's Joke
Ladies and Gentlemen! Children and Adults! This way, just this way! Step right up!
The distinguished audience can now take a sneak peek into the childhood of the famous bandit king when our Sándor was always up to mischief! They can see him as a tiny infant cleverly fooling the local constable! They can see him as a youngster playing with his red piglet or as a young man pranking two foolish policemen with his friend Girgác Lacku. I see you don’t believe it! Well then, gather up and head to the Kövér Béla Puppet Theatre! From the age of four.

Play Music with Us! – The Children's Program of the Szeged Symphony Orchestra
Children can imagine they are riding in a decorated horse-drawn carriage through the woods, accompanied by cheerful musicians playing a divertimento by Mozart. Besides the music, other sounds surround the riders; these are mimicked by playful instruments that allow children to join the orchestra's play. At the end of the program, after two minutes of conductor training, children can volunteer to conduct the Szeged symphony.
Farkas Ferenc Wind Quintet
The ensemble members are leading artists of the Szeged Symphony Orchestra. Their program mainly consists of contemporary works written for wind quintet, along with classical music arrangements and entertaining musical adaptations on their broad repertoire.
Szeged Percussion Ensemble
The ensemble members are musicians from the percussion section of the Szeged Symphony Orchestra. Their varied repertoire includes classical music and popular music adaptations, contemporary pieces, and partly their compositions for their unique setup.
On the last weekend of May and the first weekend of June, the music scene of Szeged will be on display at the House of Music. The City in the House series embodies the House's missionary commitment to offer a wide variety of genres and educational programmes, while also providing an opportunity for future talents to showcase their skills. Saturday's cavalcade in Szeged will feature a wide range of programmes, from classical music - led by the Szeged Symphony Orchestra in a Saturday evening concert - to the Béla Kövér Puppet Theatre, folk music and jazz productions, and educational talks.
