The meeting of darkness and light, the blending of beauty and terror, the strange tension between the unsettling and the comforting. This is the world of David Tibet and Current 93. If you happened to catch David’s social media recently, you might already know, if not, here’s the good news: next September, Current 93 will perform in Hungary for the first time ever, at the House of Music, Hungary!
Many regard him as a visionary genius, an alchemist of the mind, or a narrator of the soul. And if you have ever been captivated by the music of Current 93, you know these descriptions are far from exaggerated. The British artist sings in tales about apocalyptic landscapes, witches, flaming “horsies”, and all manner of mystical images that he can shape into sound or words. Often, a single phrase lingers in his mind for years, giving rise to the unique, rule-defying worlds of Current 93’s albums. Current 93 began its journey 43 years ago, and in that time, more than 9000 albums and singles have emerged from David Tibet’s hands, alongside collaborations with artists such as Nick Cave, William Basinski, and Rickie Lee Jones. Next year, we will finally have the chance to step into this universe that surpasses imagination. Join us as we explore the dreamlike world of David Tibet and Current 93 for the very first time in Hungary!
