Let’s Start the Summer with Weiner Symphonic Band
This programme is held in Hungarian.
The Weiner Leó Catholic Music School and Conservatory is the alma mater of many renowned artists, with many starting their careers within its walls. It's no surprise that the school's operation has been awarded the Prima Primissima Prize. We can gain insight into the life of this wonderful workshop through the school's wind orchestra. The orchestra was founded in 1994 under the leadership of István Sztán, who was the head of the brass department at the school, its director for 10 years, and later its "Honorary Director", becoming a legendary figure in domestic brass education. Over the past more than 30 years, the ensemble he founded has proudly won numerous national and international competition and festival awards. Since 2018, the work has been conducted under the direction of conductors Balázs Bánfi and Tibor Takács, who continue to promote wind music in a worthy manner. In this spirit, they also present their summer-opening concert on the outdoor stage of the House of Music. Their program evokes freedom, the liberation of the holiday season, featuring popular, catchy tunes from the world of classical music, musicals, and entertainment music.
As part of the Fringe programme launched to support the mission of the House of Music, Hungary, we invited applicants in three categories – music school students, music hobbyists, and up-and-coming bands and street musicians – to take advantage of the opportunity to perform in various spots around the building. In line with the mission of the institution, the Musicians of the Future programme series provides an opportunity to showcase promising young musicians – primarily music school students – at the House of Music through short concerts in our communal areas.
