Play with Us! – Dialogue Between Human and Algorithm
This programme is held in Hungarian.
What happens if the music doesn't end where the musician stops, but someone – or something – carries it on? Who decides where a melody, a rhythm, a timbre should go: the composer, the performer, the human imagination, or even the artificial intelligence increasingly woven into our lives?
The concert seeks answers to these questions. Wind and percussion players studying classical and jazz music jointly create the sonic world that artificial intelligence augments and reinterprets in front of the audience, in real time. During the evening, play and experiment, improvisation and pre-composed pieces, sound and image, human and machine continuously enter into dialogue with each other.
The concert is an intense musical and visual play in which the listener is not a passive observer but an active participant. The project's aim is not only to present a fresh face of contemporary music but to provoke thought: what comes after the sound? How can we, humans – and the machines alongside us – shape the music of the future together?
The Bartók Konzi – New Music event is in its thirteenth year at the Academy of Music's practice school, the Bartók Conservatory. As an unofficial curriculum, the program aims to broaden the musical horizons of the students and to prepare their expressive toolkit for interpreting contemporary music. The organizers consider it important to involve as many students as possible in the various programs, which are then performed during a spring project day. For the events – which are mostly built around looser themes – the young musicians prepare for months.
