Subjective! Lecture series of András Batta

This programme is held in Hungarian.

Planet opera… Or rather: opera-planet? Both are true, because opera is a vast world, and it is constantly in motion, "wandering" in both time and space. Its radiance is immeasurable. It even singed Freddie Mercury, who longed for "operatic" singing, was suited to it, and indeed took an excursion onto the opera stage alongside the marvelous opera singer Monserrat Caballé (Barcelona). Of course, for many, Freddie and Queen's most famous album A Night at the Opera comes to mind. We wander among masterpieces, and search for mirrors in which, among other faces, our own may appear for a moment. Slightly surreal, but true: by stepping through the mirror we also step across our own boundaries. So let's see what's "over there"!

Freedom, love! Every generation fights for the right to freedom. Fathers and sons, nations and patriots confront each other. In operas, freedom is often brought by love, both in this life and beyond. Where? For example, in Mozart, in Verdi…
