Noémi Barkóczi album release
This programme is held in Hungarian.
The singer-guitarist-songwriter Noémi Barkóczi first emerged in the 2010s and the unique tone of her songs already fashioned a unique aural universe on her first album, Nem vagyok itt (‘I am Not Here’), released in 2017. Her 2021 album Dolgom volt (‘I Had Work to Do’) broke several years of silence and saw her replace the acoustic guitar for an electric one and grow much bolder in experimenting with new, coarser sounds.
The album received a Fonogram nomination and several Hungarian publications listed it as their album of the year. Since then, her band comprising Kristóf Gulyás (mius), Márton Bognár (Kamikaze Scotsmen) and, as of autumn 2024, Panka Szczuka (Flanger Kids) has extensively toured Hungary’s clubs and festivals, providing proof positive that the formation’s music works just as well in front of several thousand people at Budapest Park as it does in a cellar club in provincial Hungary.
Noémi has appeared as a songwriter in the Dalfutár (‘Song Courier’) television show, she has collaborated on a record by Vera Jónás and an album paying tribute to Kaláka, she has sung at The Qualiton’s remembrance of Iván Szenes at Müpa Budapest, and several of her songs have appeared in Hungarian films. Recent events, changes and moments in her life inspired new songs that came together as a third album that Noémi Barkóczi and her band will debut before a live audience at the House of Music Hungary.
This program will be held in Hungarian.
