Danny Bain: Kodzsugukila, the witch
This programme is held in Hungarian.
The American musician, composer, storyteller and performer Danny Bain arrived in Hungary in 2010, and since then has created numerous children’s performances with which he has toured the country. His special performance, which can also be seen in the House of Music Hungary, received a special prize at the 9th Children’s and Youth Showcase, and for his outstanding performance at the Kolibri Season-Opening Festival in September 2018 he was awarded the Michel Indali Prize.
In the performance, Dzséli, the musician and magician, whisks us away to Africa, to its most special corner: his own hut. While making music he tells the story of Kalili and Szandzsi, during which we get to know a brave jumping mouse, a graceful gazelle and the ruthless witch Kodzsugukila. In the tale, every miracle can come true, and since he is a magician who plays music, it may even be possible that the drums themselves are actually the ones speaking.

We are welcoming the whole family to our outdoor stage with ever more exciting concerts, performances and activities at 10:30 every Saturday throughout the summer! Our series is not only dedicated to a wide variety of musical genres – from jazz through Hungarian and African folk music to classical music – but also to some great artists who may be less familiar to the general public but who really deserve more attention.
